ALL AGE GROUPS!! There will be a fundraising bag pack on February 11th, at the Tesco store on the Western Road, Kilmarnock, from 10am to 4pm. If you are available to help, please can you give your name to Heather Snaddon, or put it on the sheet that is on the club noticeboard at the ice rink. We are looking for volunteers to do a 1 - 2 hour stint either bag packing or leafletting shoppers. All players will be issued with a team top to wear.
It is with great sadness that we must say Goodbye to Stuart Wilson, who has resigned from his position of Head Coach to Kilmarnock Junior Ice Hockey Club. We would like to say a huge thank you to Stuart for all the hard work and effort his has put into the club over the years, and to wish him, and his family, all the best for the future.
There will be a parents meeting on Friday January 27th at 8pm in the Bonspeil Bar. Hope to see you all there.
This is for ALL age groups.
A HUGE well done to Andrew Barr, Andrew Little and Duncan Speirs who have been selected to play for the Scotland U13's and U15's team. Great news guys. We are all very proud of you.
The Committee would like to inform all Club members (players and parents) of an EGM that will take place on Friday 10th February at 8pm. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss changes to the Club Constitution to facilitate grant applications.
Rag bag collection will be taking place soon. Heather will be handing out bags for you to put your old clothes/shoes/bedding/towel etc in at training this coming week.
U10's!!! You're going to be busy!!! You have 2 more challenge matches against 2 different Dundee teams. Both are home games with a face off time of 3.30pm. The first is on January 21st, the second February 11th.

U10's and Learn to Play, effective from November 19th, the times of your training session will change. Still on a Saturday, but from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Braehead Clan have got off to a great start this season. If you fancy going along to see the Purple Army do their stuff then why not take advantage of the ticket deal they have very generously offered to KJIHC. As last season, we can get one child ticket FREE for each paying adult. Ticket requests require to be emailed 48 hours prior to the game to office@braeheadclan.com. Payment can be made on the night at the ticket collection desk.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR UNDER 10's AND LTP; There will be NO training on November 12th due to the figure skating club using the ice rink for the whole day.
OFF-ICE TRAINING
Background;
The "Off ice training" came about recently as a result of enquiries made from a few of the boys to Stuart Wilson. Due to the expression of interest from a small number of boys, Stuart arranged the hire of a squash court (takes a maximum of 12 people) at the Galleon Centre.
Way Forward;
Stuart has agreed to expand the Off Ice Training for anyone who is interested. All you need to do is contact Stuart Wilson, expressing an interest, and he will try and run another session, possibly an evening or a Sunday at the Galleon Centre. Stuart has stated that he will issue individual workouts tailored for each players needs. The exercises done during the off ice training can be done by the players on their own, without the use of equipment. The fee will be £5 per session, this money being put towards equipment, Galleon costs and the making of a training DVD. Spaces will be limited. Any players interested should contact Stuart on 07816060955
From Heather,
Santi has secured a deal with Braehead Clan whereby any member of KJIHC can get a free childs ticket with every adult ticket purchased for any home game throughout this season.
All people have to do is send the name of the adult to office@braeheadclan.com prior to 10.00am 48hours before the game and they will then allocate the adult and child ticket. Payment must be made 48hours in advance of the game via cash, cheque or credit/debit card where possible.
This saturday, October 2nd, we are going to have a recruitment drive at the Galleon during the ice disco public session. It is hoped to have some of the boys and girls (willing volunteers) to hand out flyers to potential new recruits. We will have them wearing a killie strip and will also have a stand in the Galleon advertising the club. We are also hoping to have a few out on the street handing out the info. For this we will obviously need some parents to supervise. If you, and your player are able to help out at all, please could you contact Heather Snaddon, either via txt, or see her at the club on friday.

Dear All
It it that time of year again, summer is almost over and we are organising registrations for the new season starting this week!!

Can I urge you to return your registration forms with your registration fee to Murray as a matter of urgency (details of Murray's address and phone number are on the KJIHC website)?
Before we know it we will have games arranged and players WILL NOT be permitted to participate WITHOUT being registered!! So don't delay register NOW!!!
If you have not received registration forms please contact Murray Stewart as a matter of urgency.
Looking forward to seeing you all back at the club. Hope you all had a terrific summer and looking forward to the new season.
Susan Kerr
Parents Training Session
There is a One Hour training session next Saturday (8th May) for those parents wanting to play in the end of season game. The session starts at 6pm prompt so please be there in plenty of time to get ready.
SHUTDOWN UPDATE
Unfortunately we have been advised that the Galleon Centre's annual shutdown period will be in August as usual rather than June. The rink will therefore be closed from 18 Aug to 8 Sept 2010. We will try to make alternative arrangements for training sessions during this period as usual. The good news is that KJIHC can run drop-in hockey sessions throughout June. Please watch the website for details.
COACHING OPPPORTUNITY
KJIHC are looking for a Coach to co-ordinate and run our Learn To Play Programme. We have a number of enthusiastic youngsters who need their skills shaped and developed to get them ready to join Killie's Under-10's team and League Teams and maximise their enjoyment of the game. You will need you to be able to commit to running a training session on Saturday afternoons at the Galleon Centre between 3.30 and 4.45pm and be able to devise sessions which will keep the interest and attention of the group.
You will be well supported by Team Manager Evette Stalker and other parents who are keen to make the Programme work. You will also be able to call on on-ice helpers from among our older league teams and SNL players to assist the kids during the practice and to work through the Programme you devise. To keep you in contact with the rest of the Club you will be welcome to join any of our league team training sessions as an Assistant Coach on Thursday and Friday night.
Our Learn To Play Programme is vitally important to the success of our Club and we would welcome the services of an enthusiastic and committed Coach. If you think that you can help us, please register your interest by contacting Fiona Paton, Club Secretary by phone on (01563) 525142 or 07967 602985 or by email om fiona.paton@kjihc.org
Following the article in last week's Kilmarnock Standard which raised concerns about our rink closing, KJIHC Chairperson Susan Kerr has made contact with David Carey, the Galleon Centre's General Manager and received a most reassuring response. David says that the reported 5% reduction on funding for the next year has already been budgeted for by him and so it is not new news. He also said that there have been unsubstantiated rumours of closure for some years now but that, and we quote "There are no plans at present or in the future that he is aware of to close one of Scotlands most successful multi purpose wet and dry Leisure centre's although we all have to recognise that the R22 gas issue will have to be resolved by 2014". David hopes that this offers some comfort to the Club and he assures us that he is doing everything possible to ensure longivity of our Ice rink in all of the circumstances. We are fortunate that David Carey and his management team have always been so supportive ice hockey in Kilmarnock teams and KJIHC remains in a good position for next season with regard to ice availability and of course our much valued players and supporters.
CHANGE TO ANNUAL ICE SHUT-DOWN
The Galleon Centre have advised us that the annual ice shut-down will be in June this year instead of August. This actually suits the Club much better and it is something that the Committee have been requesting. It means that we can finish our season and go straight into our "Summer Drop-in Hockey" weeks through July (details to follow). More importantly, we can get started training properly at the start of the new season in August 2010 without having the disruption of the shut-down.
Please note that if you pay your fees by standing order, you will want to stop it early from 1st rather than 30th June.
KJIHC AGM
The 2010 AGM will take place on Tuesday, 1 June 2010 upstairs at the Galleon Centre at 8pm. Please try to come along to vote in a Committee for next season and to have your say in the future of the Club.
PRESENTATION NIGHTS
The Learn to Play, U10's, U12's, U14's and U16's teams' presentations night will be on Friday, 4 June 2010 at 8pm. As there will be no ice at the Galleon Centre that night for our usual ice disco and as the upstairs room is less than ideal, the Committee are looking for a suitable venue elsewhere in Kilmarnock. If anyone has any suggestions, please drop a member of the Committee a note.
The U20's team will be having a joint Presntation Night with the SNL team. Stuart Wilson will let players know what the arrangements will be nearer the time.
The webmaster needs input for the website. If you have an idea let them know by email.
